The elections...a disappointment. But the GOP got what it deserved. I shed no tears for them. Hopefully, this'll be a blessing and the party will return to its limited government roots (which they have strayed away from...greatly).
And Sen. Allen, the election was yours to lose. I don't know how you could do it, but you blew it.
Let the gridlock* commence!
Once again, Stephen Colbert turns last night into comic lemonade:
"The people have spoken and apparently they're tired of freedom. Don't get me wrong, I'm not angry. I'm just disappointed. I thought this country would last longer than 230 years. That's it, folks. America's over.
Don't think you're off the hook, voters. You're the ones who made this bed. Now you're the ones who are gonna have to move over so a gay couple can sleep in it. Tomorrow you're all gonna to wake up in a brave new world, a world where the Constitution gets trampled by an army of terrorist clones created in a stem-cell research lab run by homosexual doctors who sterilize their instruments over burning American flags, where tax-and-spend Democrats take all your hard earned money and use it to buy electric cars for National Public Radio and teach evolution to illegal immigrants. Oh and everybody's high!"
Hilarious.
*Which is actually the best thing for this country right now. Just hope Bush can stand strong.

The Dems should have tanked the elections and let the GOP continue to remain in control, run things into the ground. I mean really let the wheels fall off. Then they'd be primed to make a strong run for the White House. As it stands, they won't be able to get shit done by '08 (that's assuming that they even have a plan to right the ship.) Prediction: GOP takes a breather and reorganizes. Dems can't produce. John Q. Public gets disillusioned again. GOP swarm like wu tang killer bees and are poised to recoup some of their House/Senate losses. The Moral Majority puts another clown in the White House in '08.
prostitution remains (mostly) illegal. I'm so bored with the U.S.A.
I, for one, am psyched (a) because I love gridlock and (b) because real Republicans (i.e. people who don't believe the government exists to plan your retirement, pay your doctor bills, and indoctrinate your children in "school") are a natural minority in this country.
And speaking of Wu Tang, I am going to plan my retirement through Wu Tang Financial ("You got to diversify yo' bonds, nigga"...can I say that?).
I'm in disbelief that NV said "no" to legal pot. Huh? Sex for money is okay but a doobie isn't? Weirdos.
California elections are so boring. Everyone pretty much knows what's going to happen. With the added bummer that we're now saddled with a gazillion dollars of bonds to go straight to the pockets of government bureaucrats. Wheee!
THSE - PLEASE say that you're considering taking a TV political analyst job. We need someone that would be able to drop the words "Wu Tang killer bees" into their commentary.
dubin - You've come a long way since college, baby. Have you been smoking Virginia Slims?
law fairy - Indeed. You guys ought to get an Austrian action movie star to run for office or something. At least you guys didn't pass the $3/pack cigarette tax.
Duh, of course it's Virginia Slims for me. In fact, I've so embraced the essence of my home state, that my diet consists entirely of ham, peanuts, and cigarettes.
And now you know why everyone in this state is HAWT!
