Lots of great music put out so far and that Jenny Lewis album is just amazing. Cash's disc packs an emotional wallop, but I think I have to be in a mood for it. Curiously, there's no hip-hop on the list (yet). Now, if this was 1996...

this looks like a list from Paste Magazine, not that i'm complaining or anything...

i'll check out jenny lewis (isn't she the actor?).

"Curiously, there's no hip-hop on the list (yet)."
Surprised you didn't list Gnarls (not that they're actually hip hop). But, personally, i'll rep Mars Ill til i die.

Yep, I'm a hipster doofus. The Jenny Lewis disc is indeed excellent. And, yes, she was a child actor - which she refers to in the title track ("I became a hundred thousand dollar kid").

Funny that you mention Gnarls Barkley. I've been hearing such good things about the disc - and I like "Crazy" - that I'm inclined to take a chance on it. I'm not a huge Cee-Lo fan, but I do like Danger Mouse (even though he was an inferior replacement for Dan the Automator in Gorillaz, but that's a post for another day). I see it on sale every other week it seems, so I may just pick it up.

Mars Ill...another group I need to check out. I think that I've got some guest appearances scattered throughout my collection. Overall though, hip-hop is just lacking these days. I wish I could find something that would just honk my bobo, but no luck.

I should add that some of the artists on my list I was introduced to through various NPR podcasts, so I can see how it reads like "Paste" magazine.

Better than, say, "People" magazine. Or "Cat Fancy".

or Cats that Look Like Hitler Fancy.

yeah, what, no j.Lo or Paris Hilton?

i ain't pickin' no fights. i adore Paste and the fact that they're NOT - unlike Pitchfork - hipsters. anybody that reps the Vigilantes of Love, Wilco, Over the Rhine, the Roots, Wes Anderson and Kanye is alright in my doofus book.

I am really diggin' the Crazy song. Most everything you've got on the list is too obscure for my mainstream vibe. I've never heard any of Katie Melua's stuff before but she actually just played a show across the street from my Apt. on Sunday. I've always had a thing for Jack Johnson, and well, U2.. don't even get me started about my hard-on for Bono.

jasdye - "Paste" covers a lot of territory, which is cool. Too bad my free sub ran out a while back - and I can't really justify paying for another subscription to a magazine I may not read (right away, at least).

KtG - Girls can get hard-ons, too?! They DID NOT teach us that in health class. You'd probably like Melua's stuff (obvious comparison: Norah Jones). Shame on you for not going to her show, especially because of its proximity. But you didn't know. I'll let it slide this time.
