Well, technically it's not a "dollar theater" - that's just what I refer to it as. It's more like a $1.50 theater ($1.75 on Fridays and Saturdays). Matinees are $.50 on Tuesdays, $1 the rest of the week.
I never read any of the Narnia books, so I was fresh going into the film. I loved it.
i didn't read any of the tolkien books, so maybe that helped my experience there.
here in chicago, the dollar theaters have the audacity to charge a whole $2.00. i didn't think they actually had matinee prices, that's the surprising thing. did you at least buy some $7.50 popcorn to off-set the cost?
That just proves my theory that the cost of living is $.50 higher in Chicago.

I haven't read the LOTR books, either. I want to, but the sheer length seems a bit daunting. Heck, the 1500 page copy of the unabridged The Count of Monte Cristo that I bought a couple of years ago is still unread.

I saw Narnia today (finally!) and it occurred to me that the PETA freaks would probably be rooting for the wolves against the children.

narnia was decent. doesn't stack up against the childhood memory (of reading, illustrating with my mind. not of visiting it, of course).

and as much as i love basic linguistics and history, i couldn't make it past the intro to the first LOTR.
Aslan and comp. is much speedier reading.
