Courtesy of these fine folks."Mush into mush" update: an
anti-Cooper website has been made, as well as an
online petition. I implore all current University of Richmond students, alumni, and friends of the school to visit the former and sign the latter. Cooper's had his turn and he's been ineffective. It's now time for Richmond to get back on the right track.

Interestingly, a story about Emperor Cooper appeared in AOL News ("News for idiots").

It's not exactly the New York Slimes, but it is national news.
dubin - Cooper wanted to give us a national reputation. Now he has.
CB - Yep. Believe it or not, UR is the third most expensive college in the nation now.
I'm starting to get tons of hits for my anti-Cooper post. The one you have linked is pretty slick. I'm going to order some buttons for all the UR alumni to wear at my work.
Just out of curiosity, has Rush picked up on this? He always talks about how his listeners are portrayed using the mush analogy.
I'm getting a bunch of hits, too. From all over the country. I finally got around to signing the petition tonight.
As for Rush, no clue. I haven't been listening to him lately as I've been hooked on some podcasts that I've downloaded. But the story's hit the AP wire, I think, so you never know.
There's a new article in today's T-D that states the vote will take place today in the alumni house. I posted it in the comments section over on my blog.
Well, that just sucks. I planned on it to be Peanut Butter Jelly Time and celebrate with a wee nip of scotch. Guess not.
Thing is, I thought this could go either way. Cooper's comments were a terrible PR move for the school and the Board could've nixed him for that. But then again, they seem to agree with the direction he wants to take the school (Northeast), so it's not a huge surprise they kept him on.
So it looks like the school won't be getting any money from me until at least 2008. By that time I should be in a position to give a relatively larger amount than I can now (I would hope). Sorry, WDCE - you're losing my annual $50 contribution. Blame Cooper.
Story is here.
Hmmm...I don't think the board really got the point. It wasn't just the "mush" comment...won't mean much when I'm a DVM. The whole point was that the alumni were (are) unhappy with the direction of the university, not a mild insult to their intelligence.
I hope FireCooper.com doesn't fold over this.
FireCooper.com posted that they aren't going to give up, which is a good thing. The petition's still going strong. Here's to hoping it will lead somewhere.
Personally, I plan on writing a letter on why I won't be giving when I am next solicited for a contribution. I'm sure I won't be the only one.
