In ripping CDs so I can fill up my iPod, I've noticed something that's amiss. How in good conscience can Sony title an album
The Essential Billy Joel when it doesn't include arguably his best song - "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant"? I wish I knew what happened to my copy of his
Greatest Hits Vol. 1 & 2...

Of course they do that to make you buy OTHER Billy Joel CD's (but you know that). Plus, anytime they call it "essential", it means it's all songs picked out by the artist...and artists usually have terrible taste in their own music.
In other exciting news, I walked to school in the snow today. It was great, even when it was blowing in my face (they don't call Lansing "The Windy City" for nothing!). In other other exciting news, a week from now I'll be stuffing my face in sunny Springfield, VA...if I make it home.
What is this "snow" thing? I had the a/c on yesterday to cool down the car due to the 80 degree weather.
dubin - Yeah, it's all a scam. But I'll show them by downloading the song...or asking my loyal readers that already have it to e-mail it to me.
And it snowed here this morning, too. Didn't do much, though. I broke out the pea coat and scarf! I'm heading to Target this evening to buy gloves.
spydrz - You'll have to move to a city without a snow-deflecting dome to experience it. I'm glad our 70 degree days are gone (for now, at least).
I'd send the song but my DSL is super-slow. Maybe later tonight when I get home. If I'm awake after recovering from my camping expedition in the Chester Chick-fil-a parking lot.
So, the opening of a new Chik-fil-a is akin to a new Star Wars movie, then.
It would be if they opened a Chick-Fil-A in East Lansing. I'd help you out with the song thing, but I sold my Billy Joel CD because I hate him (as a person) so very, very much.
Star Wars does not give you the benefit of over $250 in free food coupons at the end of the night though.
P.S.--It's rivalry week. I have virtually no expertise or authority to predict outcomes, but who cares?
Penn State at Michigan State...2nd oldest land grant university at 1st oldest land grant university. That has absolutely nothing to do with football. What matters is that the Spartans have a prolific offense that does a good job of getting the ball into the hands of receivers...and cornerbacks, and safeties, and linebackers, and only then when they bother to get 11 men on the field........Penn State 41, MSU 28.
Michigan at Ohio State...Not much need be said about this rivalry. This year, OSU has been pretty good, but spotty. Were it not for MSU's self-implosion, the Buckeyes might have lost that one. Same goes for Michigan against MSU 2 weeks prior. How the Stinking Hippies...er...Wolverines have won so many games is beyond me. Probably their patchouli stench has overwhelmed opponents........Michigan 27, OSU 25.
William & Mary at Richmond...The winner of this historic rivalry game keeps King Harold XXCVIMDLL's ("Harold the Syphilitic Drunkard") Olde Royale Sceptre. I've bet against the good guys twice here (plus Richmond might as well shoot for 7-0 in conference).........Richmond 23, W&M 20.
Micah, check your Gmail.
Correction: With a win, Richmond would be 7-1, that's seven and one, in conference. They lost to UMass 19-6.
dubin - How can you hate the Piano Man? Are you aware that he married a woman many, many, many years younger than him? He's a hero.
Interesting predictions. Can't say that they're off-base, either. Please root extra hard for MSU to win because that, couple with an OSU win, would give the Buckeyes the sole right to the Big Ten title.
spydrz - On behalf of Brenda, Eddie, and myself, thank you.
Micah - I will sacrifice a goat if that's what it takes to prevent Michigan from winning the Big 10 (11).
You are welcome. You can repay me with a coupla paintings from Sears.
