According to this article, 90% of the women surveyed think "men who like cats are nicer, more caring, and more sensitive than men who don't have cats." Well, maybe so, but I think a man's ownership of a cat is more detrimental to his getting a date than owning a copy of Gone With the Wind. Bad boys don't own cats.
I like cats a lot. Growing up, there was always at least one cat in our household at any givent time. My brother's cats are really cool (my sister's cat is not, though). But I'm not planning on getting one until I'm married. I've got enough strikes against me as it is.

Oooh. A cat? I don't know if we can get married now. I used to absolutely detest the furballs, I would proudly say years ago the only cats I liked were my Kentucky Wildcats. Now I only tolerate the feline variety, insisting I can be the only thing that purrs in my domicile.
I am so much more of a "dog girl." I really want to get a little doggy (a yipper type, perhaps a Jack Russell or a Yorkie) and name it Bijoux, Sparkle or Ruby. And yes, it would have a cute, little rhinestone collar. Looking back on the descrip., it sounds like I want a dog that's confused and thinks it's a cat. But anyway. I still don't like cats. They're too fickle for me.
Well, I consider myself to be more of a dog person. I really want to get a bulldog, but they're kinda pricey. I'd make do with a chocolate lab.
Over the years I've developed an allergy towards cats. When I visit my brother I have to get all doped up on Benadryl. But I do like 'em. They're a great pet to have if you travel a lot, since you can just put down a bowl of food and you're good.
So, the marriage is back on.
BTW... the above Random Musing was mine :)
A bulldog would be great. As long as we don't have to call it Uga. There's no way in hell I'll get a dog to pay tribute to Athens. GO BIG BLUE!
PS. Do you make petit fours?
Heh heh, no. I was trying to think of the most effeminate-sounding food that I could.
And the bulldog would be named either Brodie or Hank.
If you lived in NYC, you could be a real man and STILL own a cat. In fact, many NYC men own cat(s)...usually more than one. It's a dog town too, but there's basically no gender descrimination in the dating world when it comes to pets. There are usually more important things to worry about, like whether or not the guy wants you to pretend you're his mommy. (see my post on this subject)
Throw all my candles into the mix and I might as well buy a cat and move to Philly.
Let me clarify: I am not going to buy a car or a dog anytime in the immediate future. I was just tossing that article up for commentary. Heck, I can barely take care of myself, let alone another living being.
KPMD - Does your pet have separation anxiety? You know - the one that shits on the carpet.
See, in regards to cats and dogs, I think a guy can "go both ways," so to speak.
KPMD - I told your pet to join us. Who knows if he will.
Now that 24 is over, I can address this topic...I think a dog is more what you need than a cat...at this moment anyway.
Actually, now would be the perfect time for me to get a dog since I have the time to train it.
No 24 post, Micah?
Nah, nothing meaningful to post. Tonight's first-run episode was good. And I'm only four episodes into the second season so far. It's going to take a while to finish it since I have my bar review classes this week.
Weak.
Yeah, yeah. Not to mention that "I Love the 90s Part Deux" is on for 2 hours each night this week. That takes away prime "24" viewing time.
But the 90s show will be on 2000X a month for the next few years...
But I want to relive my high school and college years NOW!
Okay, it's time for me to be hittin' the ol' dusty trail...
You are so popular. And to think I knew you when...
PS. Funny about the cat thing... I had a cat perched on my lap last night during The Bachelorette. I somehow survived...
Huh. I guess that puts me in the minority -- I'm actually less likely to go for a guy if he has cats. Granted, that's partly because I'm allergic, but still... I used to love cats, but became a dog person by default and I'm now one by choice. Cats are prissy and aloof. Dogs are sweet and loving. Hmm, wait. Maybe I should like guys with cats -- like they might go for that prissy, aloof thing...
Incidentally, I would love to have a boyfriend who could make petit fours.
Christy - like I said, bad boys don't like cats.
Biologisvensk - I agree with you and it goes both ways. I don't know if I'd like a girl that kicks puppies. Well, I guess it depends on how hot she is. :)
Law Fairy - Good luck trying to find a boyfriend who makes petit fours.
