Where the heck have I been?

Surfing around, I stumbled upon this site that generates a map of all of the countries that you've traveled to. So, here's where I've been:

With the size of the map, all of the European countries that I've visited are jumbled together. And you can barely see St. Maarten, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas.

Or, if you've never ventured outside of the US, you can break it down by state. Full disclosure: I have only spent a few hours in Florida during a layover on a trip to Puerto Rico, but I'm counting it as "visited."

Apparently, I have an aversion to Kentucky.

Kind of makes me want to get a Winnebago so that I can put the maps on the back.

How did you skip Rhode Island? We drove through there on the way to Baaaston once. "Spring Break '97!!!!"

Did we? It must've flown by. Guess I'll have to edit the map.

I think so. I was driving, don't you have that videotape? Where there's a lot of snow and only one song on the radio.

This is cool, Micah! My son will love it, too.

Okay, map is fixed to reflect my frolic through Rhode Island. I don't believe that I have that videotape.

panthergirl - Yeah, I thought these maps were pretty neat.

That tape's another one to digitize and put on the web. Along with "Heaven's Shadow" and the mono tape.

KPMD-I'll be in South Dakota again in May. I can bring some prairie grass back as a momento.

KPMD -
1) I don't consider South Dakota the "Midwest." I'm not sure what I would classify it as. To tell the truth, I haven't thought about South Dakota in years.
2) I'm exactly the same (only I've been to 3 islands).

As for my Jo-Jo the Idiot Circus Boy Hat, I wore it the other day because it was (and still is) DAMN COLD in Cowtown. Sometimes you gotta sacrifice style. Not that I did because I'm dead sexy in that hat.

Eastern South Dakota is considered midwest. They border Minnesota, ja? However, I think that western South Dakota has more in common with Wyoming, which it borders. However, the southern border is with Nebraska. So you decide.

I about forgot, but this here's a great link to SD culture...and it mentions "the west."

I consider the following "The Midwest": Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Wisonsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. Bascially, if you've got a Big Ten school in your state, you're in (with the notable exception of Pennsylvania).

spydrz said...

Not Kansas?

Micah said...

Is there a Big Ten school there? Nope.

Where I live, we only speak ACC and SEC.

Micah said...

I spit on the ACC (except for VA Tech).

Go Blue Devils!!

spydrz said...

Anathema? Were we not discussing ACC sports? One cannot discuss ACC basketball without mentioning the team run by Coach K. Even if his hair doesn't ever move.

Aversion to Kentucky! Shame on you! It's a lovely place full of Southern charm and hospitality you just won't find across the river in Cincinnatuh. But it's also very hip (at least Lex and L-Ville are) and progressive thinking in a way that outshines much of the South.

You should come down here for the horse races in April.

Mint juleps for everyone!

Well, there's only one NC ACC team to root for: Duke. As for rooting for a non-UR team, they're in a different conference and I've been cheering for them since I was a kid. The internet broadcasts are not necessary since I can go to most of the games :)

Shamrock - I realize that the UK's an island, but I didn't lump it in with the rest. I was counting ones where the people aren't so...pasty.

KtG - I'm not saying that I never want to visit Kentucky, but it sure looks that way from my map. The "progessive thinking" is scaring me away, though.

KPMD - I don't think it'd be wise for spydrz to listen to UR's games. We'd surely lose then and we can't really afford any more losses.

I'd like to point out that Micah's map made all the northeastern states red :)

Honey, we all have an aversion to Kentucky....

Kentucky is wonderful. As a Midwestern/New Englander... I have fallen in luuuuv with the Bluegrass. Everyone should come visit... I'll throw a great bash with Hot Browns and Makers Mark for everyone!

Spydrz... um. Rooting for Duke? That's bad. Very, very bad!

spydrz said...

Why is everybody so anti-Duke??

Only and 8% of the World (20 countries), it seems I have to travel a bit more.

Btw, I stole your post for my blog.
